Our Guides

Ted Martin- Ted is the official historian at Saving the Old Properties and knows the history of this building better than anyone. Ted is a storyteller and brings the history of this building and its residents to life as he guides guests through over 150 years of history.  Initially a skeptic when he began giving tours for S.T.O.P., Ted had since come to have experiences of his own that allow him to say unequivocally that these buildings are definitely haunted.

Lydia Carpenter- Lydia is the newest member of our staff, but she has found a home with the spirits and staff at Saving the Old Properties. Lydia learned the history of this building from Ted Martin, our historian, but her tours are something special. Lydia is a sensitive and takes cues from the spirits as she guides our guests, adding a unique perspective to her tours. Lydia is also fluent in American Sign Language for our hearing-impaired guests.

Kate Thornburg- Kate is our general manager and sometimes tour guide. She is a truth-sayer, sharing the history of the building as it was taught to her by Ted. Kate’s tours are informative, but she tries to keep her own experiences with the spirits to herself. She wants guests to experience the spirits for themselves and tries to keep her own perceptions from coloring their investigation.
